Naadam
Festival
Mongolia
celebrates a big festival called the Naadam festival in the month
of July. This celebration is held
in Ulaan Baatar on the 11 – 13 of July. This coincides with
the anniversary of the 1921 Mongolian revolution. In order not
to conflict with or be overshadowed by the Ulaan Baatar festival,
smaller cities often hold their celebrations a week earlier or
a week later. The festivals in the smaller cities are often more
fun than the large celebration in U.B. This is a very exciting
time for Mongolia. Most businesses close and everyone is out in
the street and at the festival. At the festival there are archery
contests, Mongolian wrestling contests, horse racing and lots
of Mongolian cuisine to try. It is exciting, great fun, and a
great cultural experience.
We
would be glad to arrange a fly fishing trip for you that would
include a week of fishing and a few days of the Naadam Festival.
